"Throw back Thursday"

For TBT today,
I posted a picture of me and David Byrne from around April, 1992. One person asked me, "Where did you meet him...how freakin' cool!"
Well Amy, I was at KWRS doing a a weekly program called the Global Village Show. A couple of hours of music from around the world. David Byrne was opening a world tour with his new band in Spokane, WA. I had a friend at CMS who said that the band was doing the sound check at the Coliseum NOT at the Opera House where his show was scheduled.

I had a friend at CMS who said that the band was doing the sound check at the Coliseum NOT at the Opera House where his show was scheduled. My Music Director Crystal and I went up to the Coliseum and heard music. We waited for the music to finish. Then the long wait for the band to exit the stage door. We saw David coming out. I approached him, introduced myself show some media credentials and asked if I could interview him. He said that he was too tired for tonight. I was just hoping to schedule one. He said to meet him in the green room the next afternoon. Crystal and I showed up at the stage door the next day. The stage manager had no information that we were expected. They checked around, then Finally David Byrne came by and said that he had set up the interview. We were escorted to a private room, where we waited. He popped his head in to tell us that he would be about 5 more minutes. Then it was just me, Crystal and David Byrne. I got a brief interview and some promo voice overs. …and ..that…uh…photo! He looks wax and I look whacked!
You can see Crystal taking the picture in the mirror.
He was very gracious answer my questions that he has answered countless times before...I did a couple of voice over promos for my program, When he was passing buy with his red guitar, I asked, "Mr. Byrne, can I take your picture?" he simply said, "Yes." At least he was smiling in this one!
